Irrelevant in the real world.

This doesn't factor the aspects of the average 'net user literacy, standard phishing methods nor business paranoia. Company reputation is something taken incredibly seriously, as right or wrongly, it's perceived the (legitimate) company's fault when some idjit falls victim to "bankofamerica-securityaudits.com".

(See "Abuses" @ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_name)

Ignoring the fact many of these so-called "sponsored" TLDs violate the semantic of the Internet, these concepts are pure marketing BS, plain and simple (someone explain to me, what the intended difference is between ".com" & ".biz"). If it's a question of using ".wiki" or it's ilk, I'd argue it's easier to set a sub-domain while also looking less "scattered".

There's no need for any further public TLDs/non-ccTLDs than the general .com, .net, .org & sponsored .edu. The 2001-introduced should be culled and the historic roots of TLDs reinstated. I'd even go as far as saying ".com" should be culled, in favor of ccTLDs.

We live in a world where people google Yahoo & use Yahoo to find Google.

Hello Bhavin

Thanks for excellent post.

I have few doubts about Trademark & Domain Trademark.

this is what my undertanding of trademark :
for example if I have business name XYZtips and i have taken trademark for name XYZsports which manufacture sports related stuff and i alos have domain XYZsports.com so in that case no one can start business with my name for sports products.

But when I hold XYZsports.com is it covered by trademark ? as my trademark is limited " no one can start particular sports product business using my name as any one cat start website XYZsportstips.com or other domains ... so do i have to register domain trademark seprately ? ??? so that I can request people who used similar name to surender domain ???

I am not involved in product industry .. but I am really confuse regarding domain trademark and prduct trademark as I have few websites who just provide free information and ranking verywell and now I worried about anytime other people may get trademark for that name and send me notice to surender domain .. is that can happen ??? if i do not have domain trademark or any other trademark ?? I do not sell any product I provide free info on my sites ..

one more issue bothering me is there is one website I have doubt they have trade mark example for XYZTips.com they alos prvide free information and not sell any prducts and i have register domain xyztipsideas.com I alos provide information on same topics with similar name .. now my question is is this create any problem ???? what u will advice me do i need to change domain ? how we can safeguard ourself if domain trademark register after website domain registration ?? how we will come to know any one already hold that trademark see i know US website but they theirself say data may be inaccurate so i think in long run every one will come in problem ??

I am from India and I do not find Indian give have domain trademark policy or related if so then please advice ??

I did also thought that introducing new TLD's would complicate things, thanks for making this article lucid and rich in anecdote.
